XEROX COVER STORY

Towards a more sustainable future

For Xerox, sustainability isn’t just part of its strategy, it is integral to everything the company does, from designing products to delivering services as the business leads the way to a net zero future.

For Xerox, being a leader in its markets also means the company has great responsibility. Not only designing and manufacturing innovative products for international markets, but also helping protect employees, clients and the wider environment. At Xerox, environmental responsibility has been core to the company’s operations for almost 50 years, and it will continue to be in the future as it works towards their carbon reduction targets outlined in their net zero roadmap. Indeed, Xerox is on target to reach net zero emissions by 2040. Workplace innovations Xerox is at the forefront of sustainability- focused solutions for the workplace, from AI-powered, energy-efficient capabilities to remanufacturing more than 1.7 million toner cartridges in 2024, averaging 90% reuse by weight. The company itself is making great

strides in reducing environmental impact; in 2024, Xerox achieved a 59% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions (compared to a 2016 baseline). This is extended through the products it sells. Together with Lexmark, which Xerox acquired earlier this year, the company is expanding its impact across the print life cycle – delivering smarter technologies that help clients to work more efficiently and reduce their environmental impact. This includes using advanced energy efficient technologies and components with long life spans, which can also increasingly be reclaimed once a device has reached the end of its life and therefore avoid going into landfill. Indeed, since 2009, more than 600,000 tons of equipment, parts and supplies have been diverted from landfill thanks to the company’s work. AI is also at the heart of the company’s innovation, helping to simplify processes, boost productivity and drive innovation across the organisation. This includes things like predictive analytics and intelligent document processing. Managed print innovations Xerox Managed Print Services (MPS) Advanced Analytics gives users the power to closely monitor their emissions and take practical action to reduce them. It can also demonstrate to customers and suppliers their environmental work – showing measurable outcomes
