While a company as big as the Co-op can continue despite the huge hit to its revenues, a similar scope of attack in a smaller business could easily be fatal – and it has been. Transport business KNP – most famous for its Knights of Old brand – went out of business last year, largely down to the effects of a cyberattack. It shows the importance of cybersecurity to businesses and, while it is has been a must-have for years now, some haven’t been meticulous in ensuring that all their devices – such as networked MFPs – are as secure as possible, thus leaving a potential route in for bad actors.
