AI IN MPS
Fleet Services, Kyocera Net Manager and our K-Level security framework, which helps customers to improve efficiency, resilience and security across their print infrastructure.” Influence on security AI is also having an increasing influence on security – threat and protection – in MPS. “Attackers are using it to make phishing more convincing and to find vulnerable connected devices faster,” says Julian. “On the protection side, at a network level, AI helps through continuous monitoring and faster anomaly detection, flagging unusual activity before it becomes a real risk. It won't replace good security hygiene, but it gives organisations a much better chance of catching problems early.” Deyon adds that AI is playing an increasingly important role in identifying and mitigating security threats within print environments. “As multifunction printers become connected endpoints on the corporate network, they are facing many of the same cybersecurity risks as other IT devices,” he says. “AI-powered monitoring tools can detect unusual user behaviour, identify suspicious print activity and flag potential vulnerabilities in real time. At the same time, cybercriminals are using AI to create more sophisticated attacks, making intelligent threat detection and automated response capabilities increasingly important.” Beatrice notes that with cyberthreats becoming more sophisticated, print security is now the core component of Kyocera’s Managed Print Services. “Print devices require the same proactive protection as other network endpoints, which is why Kyocera’s launched PrintGuardian, which uses AI to provide continuous monitoring of modern printers and MFDs, forwarding risk findings and telemetry into our hyper-automated UK- based SOC,” she adds. “AI-enabled solutions provide faster
identification of emerging threats and potential vulnerabilities, supporting automated risk detection and, overall, a more proactive security approach. This helps organisations strengthen protection not only at device level, but across their wider IT environment, making security an integral part of a modern MPS strategy.”
Integrating AI into MPS solutions With the huge growth in AI, it is something that MPS providers will increasingly need to integrate into their solutions. Julian says MPS providers should start with a clear problem to solve. “Providers need to identify where AI adds real value, whether that is quality control, security monitoring or usage analytics, and build around that,” he explains. “They should also be using AI in their own businesses, because it’s far easier to explain the value to customers when you’ve seen it first-hand. “Workforce readiness is the other big challenge. Our research found 35% of leaders say staff worry about their own tech skills, and 43% still want clearer guidance on adopting AI securely. The tools are often already there, but the know-how to use them well isn’t always in place. That’s why training and education will be critical to successful adoption and providers need to build them into the service from the start.” Deyon says the most effective approach is to use AI to enhance existing services
By analysing historical and current device data, providers can identify potential issues before they impact users, reducing downtime, strengthening security and optimising fleet performance. “ ”
